Sera gH Test

With the Sera gH Test, you can easily determine the water hardness. GH is what is referred to when it is said that fish or plants prefer hard or soft water.

One package of Sera gH Test is sufficient for approx. 420 °dGH (420 drops).

Instructions for use

• Rinse the measuring cup several times with the water to be tested and then fill it up to the 5 ml mark. Dry the outside of the measuring cup.
• Add the reagent drop by drop. Gently shake after each drop until the color changes from red via brown to green.
• The number of drops used corresponds to the total hardness (°dGH), e.g. 5 drops = 5 °dGH.
• Cleaning: Before and after each test, the measuring cup should be thoroughly cleaned with tap water.

Lowering gH

• Add reverse osmosis water or rainwater to lower the gH.
• Be cautious with decorative stones that release calcium and magnesium salts into the water, as they increase water hardness.

Increasing gH

• Add harder water to increase the gH.
• Use gH+ products to make the water harder.
