Function and Use

The UGF box (Under Gravel Filter) is a specialised box that you use in the aquarium to create a complete filtration system.

The box is placed entirely inside the aquarium and filled with:

• Base plate and riser tube (included)
• Filter sponge
• Ceramic filter media
• Soil

Benefits of the UGF Box

This product is mainly used in aquariums with a pH-lowering substrate. By partially filling the UGF box with this substrate, the pH is lowered effectively and kept stable.

• The pH is effectively lowered and kept stable.
• The substrate is very easy to replace.
• The soil does not cover the entire aquarium floor.
• The pH-lowering substrate works mainly inside the UGF box.

Changing the substrate has never been easier, and neither has keeping your pH stable.

Setting Up the UGF Box

The base plate always sits on the bottom of the box, with the riser tube placed on top. This allows water to be drawn through the contents of the box and then returned to the aquarium through the riser tube.

The rest of the UGF box is usually set up from bottom to top as follows:

1. Filter mat (coarse)
2. Filter media
3. A layer of soil
