Newly hatched Artemia nauplii move continuously through the water. This immediately stimulates the natural hunting instinct of young fish larvae. The nauplii are packed with easily digestible proteins and essential fatty acids. As a result, your young fish grow faster, develop better, and experience significantly lower losses during the first critical weeks.

Target Group and Applications

Small nauplii are the ideal first food for fish larvae and shy eaters. They can be used for:

• Newly hatched young fish, including dwarf cichlids, Discus, angelfish, tetras and egg-laying killifish
• Malawi and Tanganyika cichlids during their first growth phase
• Young and adult marine fish, such as wrasses and gobies
• Freshwater and saltwater shrimp

Hatching Instructions

Use 25 to 30 grams of iodine-free salt (or special Artemia salt) per litre of tap water. Add 1 to 2 grams of eggs per litre. Provide continuous aeration through an airline without an air stone, so that the eggs remain constantly in motion. Keep the temperature around 25°C. At this temperature, the eggs hatch after 24 to 36 hours. Once hatching is complete, stop the aeration; the empty shells will float to the surface while the fresh nauplii gather at the bottom, ready to be siphoned out.

Our Tip

When harvesting, shine a small flashlight on the bottom of your hatching bottle or hatching funnel. Artemia nauplii are naturally attracted to light (phototaxis). This causes them to gather in one spot, allowing you to siphon off a concentrated cloud of nauplii within a minute without collecting the empty egg shells. Empty shells can cause blockages in the intestines of very small fish larvae.
