Get rid of a snail infestation in your aquarium

A few snails in your tank are useful, but before you know it, it turns into a full-blown infestation. Overfeeding or decaying plant matter can cause explosive growth. Using chemicals is risky for your shrimp and fish, so a mechanical solution is the safer choice. With a snail trap, you can catch dozens of snails per night without affecting water parameters.

Our traps are easy to use: place some food inside the trap and set it on the substrate in the evening. Snails crawl in but cannot escape due to the smart design. The next morning, simply remove the trap from the water and empty it.

Choose the right trap for your situation

Not every snail problem is the same. Looking for a classic method where you leave the trap overnight? The Sera snail trap is a reliable option. It features rods at the entrance to prevent curious fish from accidentally entering.

Prefer a compact model that blends in with your plants? The Aqua Della snail trap works on the same principle and is highly effective against common ramshorn and pond snails.

Sometimes you don't want to wait until the next morning and prefer immediate action when you see snails on the glass. In that case, the Dennerle Snail Catcher is a handy tool. It allows you to simply "roll" snails off the glass or decorations without putting your hands in the water.

Our tip

Place the trap about an hour after the lights are turned off. Snails become truly active in the dark. Use a food tablet high in spirulina or animal protein as bait—they are more attracted to it than to a piece of lettuce.
