Zambia Wood S 10-20 cm
HS Aqua Zambia Wood – Characterful wood for your underwater world
Zambia Wood is a unique type of wood with a dark brown color and an irregular structure. Unlike well-known driftwood or spider wood, Zambia Wood is more compact and heavier. This wood instantly gives your aquarium a natural appearance without overpowering the entire tank.
The fine grooves and holes in the wood provide an excellent base for attaching mosses or ferns. Due to its high density, the wood sinks fairly quickly. In addition, Zambia Wood releases fewer tannins into the water than many other types of wood. This helps keep your water clearer, while your fish and shrimp still benefit from natural hiding spots.
The S variant (10–20 cm) is perfect for smaller scapes or as a detail in a larger aquarium.
Why choose Zambia Wood
- Sinks quickly: Thanks to its solid structure, less soaking or weighting is required.
- Shrimp-friendly: The rough surface is a breeding ground for microorganisms that shrimp graze on all day.
- Natural shelter: The irregular shape creates safe hiding places for bottom dwellers such as Corydoras or L-number catfish.
- Minimal discoloration: Keeps water parameters more stable than softer wood types.
Our tips
- Use Zambia Wood not just as decoration, but as a “plant anchor.” The deep grooves are perfect for wedging small clumps of Bucephalandra or Anubias nana. Because the wood slowly releases minerals, the roots of these epiphytes attach very quickly.
- Experiencing slight buoyancy? Do not boil the wood (this damages the structure); instead, soak it in a bucket of water for 48 hours.
Note: Zambia Wood is a natural product. Shape and color may therefore vary from the product image! Hand-picking Zambia Wood is possible on-site in Drachten by appointment.
