Cryptocoryne parva – In vitro cup
Cryptocoryne parva (green water trumpet) is the smallest Cryptocoryne species and a popular choice for the foreground of the aquarium. This plant has a compact growth habit and gradually produces runners, allowing it to propagate slowly but steadily. The dense growth creates natural hiding places for shrimp, crayfish, and small fish.
Cryptocoryne parva performs best as a foreground to low midground plant and is suitable for aquariums of all sizes, from nano tanks to larger community aquariums. The plant does not have extreme requirements, but it grows best with stable water parameters, sufficient lighting, and a nutrient-rich substrate. A small amount of root fertilizer is usually sufficient; CO₂ is not required but can accelerate growth.
The growth form of Cryptocoryne parva strongly depends on the amount of light. Under low to moderate lighting, the leaves tend to grow more upright. With strong, intense lighting, the leaves remain lower and grow more horizontally, creating a neat, carpet-like effect. This plant is supplied in an in vitro cup, making it free from snails, algae, and pesticides, and 100% safe for direct use in the aquarium.

Propagation
Cryptocoryne parva propagates through underground runners. Use healthy mother plants that have already developed runners. Once these runners have formed sufficient roots and several leaves, they can be carefully separated from the mother plant. Gently replant the young plants into the substrate. Keep in mind that this species grows relatively slowly, so patience is essential.
Pruning
Pruning Cryptocoryne parva is simple and minimal. Never cut back the entire plant at once; instead, remove only the longest or oldest leaves as close to the rosette as possible. This helps the plant maintain its strength and encourages the formation of new leaves. Once these have matured, the largest leaves can be removed again if needed.
