Cypricil has been specially developed for the treatment of skin and gill flukes, as well as for cold-water fish suffering from intestinal trematode infections. The product is based on the same effective mechanism of action as Bilocil from manaus-aquarium and completely eliminates trematodes and tapeworms (cestodes) in fish.
Cypricil has a different viscosity than Bilocil and is a new development from manaus-aquarium, with the following active ingredients:
- N-[3-chloro-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-2-hydroxy-3,5-diiodobenzamide
- (RS)-2-(cyclohexylcarbonyl)-2,3,4,6,7,11b-hexahydro-1H-pyrazino[2,1-a]isoquinolin-4-one
- N,N-dimethyl-4-[p,p'-bis(dimethylamino)-diphenylmethylene]-2,5-cyclohexadienylid-ammonium chloride
This combination ensures successful treatment of monogenea (skin and gill flukes) in koi carp and goldfish species.
Effectiveness of Cypricil
Cypricil effectively frees fish from:
- Egg-laying Dactylogyrus species
- Live-bearing Gyrodactylus species
- Intestinal trematodes
- Tapeworms (cestodes)
Research shows that koi carp and ornamental goldfish varieties such as lionheads are often infected with skin flukes. Untreated parasitic infections lead to gradual wasting and ultimately death. Young and small fish often die quickly in cases of massive infestation.
Characteristics of Cypricil
- Fast results
- Excellent tolerance
- Free from polymeric solvent dispersants
- Does not discolor or cloud the treatment water
Symptoms of skin and worm infections
- Skin fluke infestation: fish stop eating, move slowly, and die. Often, there are swaying movements just below the water surface. Large fish suddenly dart rapidly through the water and rub against walls and the bottom.
- Gill fluke infestation: a typical symptom is protruding the mouth with retching-like movements. The infestation causes mucus formation on the gills and reduced oxygen uptake. If untreated, this leads to necrosis of the gill tissue.
Dosage and use
Infection | Dosage | Remarks |

Gill flukes | Day 1: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water Day 7: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water | No water change is required between treatment days. After 8 days, perform a 50% water change. |
Skin flukes | Single treatment: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water | Water changes may be carried out from the 2nd day after treatment. |
During treatment, no active filter media (such as activated carbon or phosphate removers) should be used and UV lamps must be switched off.

Cypricil FAQ
What is the difference between Bilocil and Cypricil?
Bilocil and Cypricil are both medicines against skin and gill flukes, but with different areas of application:
- Bilocil has been specially developed for tropical ornamental fish in warm-water aquariums.
- Cypricil has been developed for koi carp, goldfish, and other cold-water fish and also works against tapeworms and intestinal trematodes.
