Bilocil Sensitive
Bilocil Sensitive
Bilocil Sensitive has been specially developed for the treatment of skin, gill, or tapeworms in sensitive fish such as L-numbers (plecos, Loricariidae), Corydoras catfish, and very young fish in ornamental fish breeding. This product is also most suitable for community aquariums with many different fish species. Bilocil Sensitive is well tolerated by all shrimp.
Recognizing gill and skin flukes in fish
- Monogenea are largely host-specific; the species that infests guppies or swordtails, for example, does not occur in other fish species.
- Gill fluke infestation in discus fish: mouth protrusion, movements resembling retching (attempting to remove parasites).
- Flukes cause mucus formation in the gills and reduced oxygen uptake; if untreated, this leads to necrosis and degradation of gill tissue.
- Infestation is often accompanied by general symptoms: livebearing toothcarps remain motionless, seek the water surface, and move slowly; untreated, all aquarium inhabitants die out within a few weeks.
- Cichlids darken in color, become skittish and hide; fish often rub themselves against decorations.
Dosage and application
- Gill flukes:
- Day 1: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water
- Day 3: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water
- Day 5: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water
No water changes are required between treatment days. After 7 days, the treatment is complete and 50% of the aquarium water should be changed.
- Skin flukes:
- Single treatment: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water
Water changes may be carried out from the 2nd day after treatment.
During this treatment with Bilocil Sensitive, no active filter media (such as activated carbon or phosphate remover) may be used. UV lamps must also be switched off. The size of the aquarium to be treated should not be smaller than 40 liters and not larger than 1000 liters.
