Chihiros Aqua Soil
Chihiros Aqua Soil is a high-quality aqua soil with a grain size of 1 to 5 mm, made from the finest materials. The soil ensures optimal pH reduction and promotes the growth of your aquarium plants.
Why choose Chihiros Aqua Soil?
- Rich in essential nutrients and minerals
The substrate provides your plants with everything they need to grow healthy and strong. - Porous grains for good root development
The porous grain structure promotes root growth and supports beneficial bacteria, contributing to a stable and healthy ecosystem. - Long lifespan
Chihiros Aqua Soil grains have exceptional resistance to decomposition. This allows the substrate to be reused multiple times, making it a sustainable alternative. - pH lowering
Chihiros Aqua Soil also lowers the pH value of the water (to approximately pH 6.2–6.8), creating a slightly acidic environment. This benefits aquarium plants and shrimp, as they thrive better in soft water. Additionally, this substrate helps prevent algae growth by absorbing excess nutrients and gradually releasing them to the plants.
How to use Chihiros Aqua Soil?
- The substrate can be used directly without rinsing.
- Spread the substrate evenly. A layer thickness of 5–8 cm is usually sufficient, depending on the type of plants.
- Plant your plants: make small holes in the substrate to place the roots. Ensure enough space between the plants.
- Fill the aquarium slowly with water, using a plate or similar to break the flow and prevent stirring up the substrate.
- Change half the water every three days to prevent algae growth and pH fluctuations. Once the plants grow well, weekly water changes of 1/3 to 1/5 are sufficient.
- Add fish and other aquatic animals only after the nitrification process is complete. Monitor water quality carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does Chihiros Aqua Soil soften the water hardness?
Yes, the substrate absorbs calcium and magnesium from the water, thereby lowering the water hardness.
Why is the TDS value higher at the beginning?
During the initial startup phase, minerals from the substrate may temporarily dissolve, causing a temporary increase in the TDS value. After 3–5 water changes, this value stabilizes again.
Is additional fertilization immediately necessary?
No, additional fertilization is not needed during the initial phase. After about three months, potassium can be added, and after six months, a complete fertilizer to support plant growth.
Is the substrate suitable for shrimp?
Yes, the substrate can be used for plants, fish, and shrimp. However, make sure to add shrimp only after the water quality has stabilized and ammonia levels are low.
Is it true that my water discolors?
It is normal for the water to turn slightly yellow after using Aqua Soil, depending on the chemical composition of the tap water. However, this effect disappears after a few water changes.
