Carbon is the most important nutrient for aquarium plants. Around 40 % of a plant‘s dry mass is made up of it. It is usually lacking in aquaria. The consequence: poor plant growth.

Dennerle Carbo Booster Max supply all aquarium plants with readily available carbon.

All plants, from mosses, to Echinodorus and Cryptocorynes, to fast-growing stem plants, become fuller and stronger. The leaves become considerably larger and the colours more intense. The results are visible within a few weeks – noticeable on the shoot tips and young leaves.

The lush, healthy growth increases the ability of the plants to compete with algae. Unwanted algae are therefore suppressed. The whole aquarium looks healthier and more beautiful.

How does Carbo Booster Max work ?

The basis of plant metabolism is photosynthesis. In this biochemical process, energy from the sun is "captured" and stored in energy-rich carbon compounds. One such energy-rich compound is sugar, for example. These compounds are used by plants (a) as universal energy sources or (b) for the production of other compounds. To stay with the example of sugar: Plants can "burn" the sugar in their cells again and use the energy released to drive other metabolic processes. Or they can process the sugar to create cellulose, for example. Cellulose is the substance that gives trees their strength and is made up of nothing more than long sugar chains.

How do plants convert substances into others?

The central hub of plant metabolism is what is known as the citric acid cycle. The citric acid cycle is like a factory. A wide variety of substances are channelled in and the necessary substances are manufactured. Using this metabolic pathway, plants are able to manufacture all the essential carbon compounds themselves: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, phytochemicals, etc.

And this is exactly where Carbo Booster Max comes in. The product contains selected active ingredients that are present in plant metabolism in this or a similar form. The active ingredients are taken up by the plants via the leaves and channelled into the cells. Here they are used as building blocks to create more complex compounds or as an energy source. With this supplementation with carbon compounds, the plants are able to grow more quickly and strongly.

There is also a second effect: All organic substances, that is to say those that are carbon based, are bacterially degradable. The filter bacteria feed on them. In the end all that remains is carbon dioxide (CO2) and water.

So Carbo Booster Max products provides the plants with essential carbon via two pathways.

The effect is visible after just a few weeks of regular use: The plants grow faster, are more lush and are healthier. The leaves become bigger and stronger.
